It's September?!?!

Hello September! Hopefully some cooler weather will come our way soon. In the mean time, here are some pics of things that make me happy:

Shipley's on Ella. It's the best...hands down

Our Candy Jar at work....My co-worker (and friend) Nikki has decided to deter everyone away from the candy by attaching pictures of Honey Boo Boo's family member's.

I love Becca...she was sweet enough to take some preggo pictures for me...This is my absolute favorite one.

"Baby P" is still nameless but we have decided to come up with a few names and see what suites the baby when he/she arrive. I feel like JP and I are just coasting along....we're not too concerned if it's a boy or girl, we're not too concerned if we're not set on a name and we're just taking things in stride. I'm not sure what's taken over me but I just feel super calm about everything. Hopefully that continues and I don't start freaking out right before the kiddo gets here. I bet it's just hormones...

Any-who, here are some more pics from the progress in baby's room:

JP and Daisy mounted Baby P's bulletin board..Can you tell that JP makes her do all of the heavy lifting?

We framed our hand prints and will add Baby P's when he/she makes his/her debut!
That's it for now...hope everyone is recovered from Labor day weekend!

The Name Game

Nursery...Check!
First pack of diapers....Check!
Hospital plan...Check!
Baby names....um.....nothing yet!

There's a lot of pressure that goes into picking baby names...I didn't realize how hard it would actually be. I guess maybe it would be easier if we knew Baby P's gender but that's just not the case!

Boy or Girl, we're still at a loss....any suggestions? Seriously, what are some of the best/worst baby names you've heard?

Baby things have taken over my life

In just about 2 months Baby P will be here :) I've turned into one of those girls that is baby obsessed. It's safe to say about 99% of my decisions are influenced on the baby.
For example:
- Should we meet up with friends for dinner during the week, or should we work on the nursery? Nursery
- Should I go to Nordstrom and get that dress I've been eying, or should I shop for a going home outfit for     baby? Going Home Outfit
-Should we watch the Olympics or rent "The Happiest Baby on the Block?"- Happiest Baby on the Block wins out....

It's so funny to me that this little baby, that isn't here yet, is already dictating my life...and I love it. It has been a crazy experience...I have bigger boobs, a bigger tummy, less energy, strange cravings, raging hormones, forgetfulness and a whole slew of other things that sound completely crazy but I couldn't be more content. I guess a lot of it has to do with all of the support that I have. JP has been even more amazing than normal (if that's even possible). He has put up with my crazy mood swings, indulged me in every craving I throw his way and has made sure that my life has been as easy as possible. He's wonderful and I know I say this a lot but I'm the luckiest girl alive. In addition to being married to such a great guy I have parents who are always there to help out. They have been over at our house every chance they get helping us out with the million things we have on our pre-baby to-do list. They're wonderful and they set the bar really high when it comes to great parents. Our baby will be the most spoiled baby around thanks to them :)

Aside from JP and my folks we have wonderful people all around. I keep saying this but it's so nice to have girlfriends to call and get advice from. Friends that I haven't talked to in years have been quick to offer their wonderful advice and recommendations and it's just overwhelming how much support and love I feel everyday from the most unexpected sources.

Speaking of wonderful people...JP's coworkers, who have become like a second family to us, threw us our first baby shower! We had such a fun time and our baby got so many amazing gifts. We were literally blown away with all of the effort they put in for us. It makes this special time in our lives feel even more special.

Gifts!
Cupcakes and punch

Fun Games

Our first diapers!

JP got his Daddy Diaper bag..he was so happy!

All of our gifts waiting to be packed away!

Month 6

Helloooo July! Why is it that the older we get the faster time goes by? I feel like the realization of being pregnant just settled in...and now, it's almost over! Today is the first day of my third trimester.... where have the past 6 months gone?

I feel like we're in crunch time...starting baby registries, cleaning out rooms and closets, shopping for nursery furniture and all kinds of baby things! It's so much fun and it's hilarious how things start to change...gone are the days that my mom and I were scoping out cute outfits and handbags, it's now all about strollers and car seats. Every time a cool stroller passes us up in the mall, we take note and look at the pros and cons. If only Tory Burch made strollers, these decisions would be so much easier.

Here are a few pics of what's been going on with us:

JP scanning his first registry item..his man bag!

Aileen and Rodrigo tied the knot! It was a beautiful wedding and I couldn't be happier for our amazing friends :) They're two of the nicest people I've ever met and it was so great to share in their special day.

The wedding party! Such a fun night :)

Our first delivery for the baby's room. Baby P's crown!

In case you're wondering what is producing that huge ball of light in the previous pic, it's our new light fixture that JP installed all on his own...not only is he hot, he's also handy :)

Baby P....growing big!
6 months along!

Father's Day

This isn't a long post, just one that celebrates the two amazing guys in my life.

When I was a little girl, my dad would work shift work. That means he would be coming home when most people were getting up for work/school. I would be asleep with my mom when he would come in the room and wake me up letting me know he brought me breakfast. I'd sleepily peel myself out of bed and go sit with him and eat Mc Donalds, or breakfast tacos, or whatever other surprise he would bring home. We would talk about dad-daughter things and in my eyes he was the best dad any girl could ask for. Looking back at it now, I can't begin to tell you how precious those memories are with him.

This year, on Father's day, I can't help but imagine what great memories our kiddo will have with JP. It makes me teary eyed, not only b/c I'm an emotional preggo lady, but b/c I just can't wait for the man I love to make our child as happy as my dad made me.

Happy Father's Day to all of the great dad's out there :)

My guys :)

Halfway there!

I can't believe that I've been pregnant with Baby P for 5 months already! Thankfully everything has been going well. For those moments when I feel like a crazy person (which is often) I have the most amazing friends and family around. I'm lucky enough to have girlfriends that are "new" mommies and they have LOADS of helpful advice and are always so eager to drop their knowledge on me. I love it. My mom and husband are also there to offer up TONS of "you need to do this" or "you should be doing this" type of advice....when that starts to drive me crazy, thankfully my dad is there to put them in check. For those of you that know my dad, he's usually logical and quiet until I enlist his help backing me up against team JP and Vashti. I think JP is learning a few tricks to get me to listen to him a bit more. Case in point:
He realized this morning that I have stopped listening to him, so he's resorted in leaving me notes from our baby, or as we refer to him/her "Junior Grasshopper." All kidding aside, I love that he cares enough to drive me crazy with advice...and I love that he finds ways to make me laugh about it.

The Grasshopper has had an adventure filled time in my tummy so far! This year we've taken our first big road trip together, gone to the Master's tournament, finished another semester of teaching, gone on a cruise with my parents and next week the Grasshopper will be hopping in my tummy as Aileen and Rod get married! How exciting!

Here are some pictures of our adventures so far:

At Amen Corner-Augusta, GA

With the folks at our nightly spot on the cruise, the Pub.

St. Maarten

20 Weeks! I have a feeling that our baby will be a beach bum.

Always thinking of "back home"

Trunk Bay, St. John- JP's favorite beach

While the vacation was so much fun, I'm glad to be back home and back to the real world. We've started getting the nursery ready and pretty soon we'll be starting the registry and baby shower fun :) I can't wait!

In the mean time, I'll keep myself busy doing what I do best...was anyone else lucky enough to hit up the new H&M? I loved it!

11 Things

Becca tagged me in her post a while back, and being the procrastinator that I am, it has taken me about 2 months to complete and post this. Better late than never right?

11 Things:
1. If you had a month off of work - what would you do with that time?--> I would most def. spend a week with my family in Trinidad and then spend the other three weeks wandering through Europe. Ireland, France, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy would be on my agenda. I would most def. end the trip in Italy…I left my heart there last summer, so I have to go back at some point and find it!

2. What's a life goal of yours that most people may not know? --> I wish I had some amazing, life changing goal, but I don’t, I just take it day by day and promise myself to be better than I was yesterday.

3. What's your biggest guilty pleasure? --> Shipley’s Donuts….hot glazed donuts…nuff said

4. What's your favorite quote? --> This is really hard, there are so many great ones out there….but the one I say all the time is “Think like a lady, act like a boss.”

5. If you got Gilligan's Island-ed (layman's terms: stranded on a deserted island), how long do you think you could survive? --> Um…hello, I’m from an island…just give me a machete so that I can cut open a coconut and I think I could manage for a few weeks.  Hopefully I would have some company and wouldn’t be stuck there by myself…

6. Biggest celeb crush - past or present (earmuffs, sig others!) and WHY? -->
Matthew McConaughey-he’s a Texas boy, has a cute southern accent ,and never wears a shirt…probably the three most important factors that influenced my choice of husband ;)

7. What's next on your travel to-do list? --> Somewhere beachy…and soon.

8. What's your most embarrassing moment? --> Ha! I have to pick just one? I’ll go with the most recent…there’s a guy that works in our building…he informed me that I should be careful in our glass elevators, b/c it’s very easy to see up my dress…yes….I was mortified.

9. What was your favorite childhood TV show? --> Are you afraid of the Darkwhat’s funny is that I can’t handle scary movies or shows now…coincidence?

10. If you could only eat at one restaurant the rest of your life- which would you choose?  -->
Lupe’s...hands down

11. If you had to partner with one Jersey Shore cast member to go on Jeopardy- who would you choose? --> Vinny, he’s the only one that I think I could actually have a conversation with.

I can't believe this is still here....

I bet you did a double take huh? "Did Kim really post something on her blog?"

I know, I'm a major failure when it comes to dedicating time to this blog. It's not that I don't want to, I promise I have the best intentions... but after spending the day in front of a computer the last thing I want to do in the evenings is bust out my laptop and type away.

Besides, when I come home, I want to hang out with these two :)  I can't say no to those cute faces.

In case you can't see it in the picture above, Daisy is wearing a "Big Sister" bandana. That's right folks, Baby P will debut October 2012! I can't begin to tell you all how exciting this is! JP and I are going to be parents! What makes it more exciting is sharing the news with our family and friends. After sharing the news with the folks, we started calling other close family.
I had to call my family in Trinidad (since we couldn't exactly tell them face to face) and their colorful comments and screams on the phone were beyond amazing. In fact, I'm tearing up right now just remembering the calls :)  My grandma literally screamed into the receiver and was so excited, while I had an uncle tell JP "job well done boy." I love them all so much and I wish we were all closer...but thank goodness for phonecards, Facebook and text messaging.

We also had our sweet Aunt Joni, Uncle Scooter, Jordan and Bri literally jump out of their chairs in happiness...Jordan (who's nickname is Big Beck) hugged me so tight, I thought I would deliver the baby right then ;) Bri's scream was so sweet and I'm so lucky that in addition to marrying the guy of my dreams I get to call the Becker's my family :)

We also had so many great reactions from our friends. From funny e-mails to wonderful dinners, it's so difficult not to get overwhelmed by all of the great people that we have been blessed with in our lives.

One of my personal favorite reveals was the following conversation that happened at brunch while talking about beverages:
K: I think I'll have some juice
D: Are you not drinking mimosas b/c you're pregnant?
K: *pause*.....um, yes
D: OH MY GOODNESS!
Que the screams from the girls :)

I love that my refusal of alcohol can only mean one thing...lol...gotta love girlfriends!

There are so many other priceless reactions from our friends that I can't possibly write about them all without exhausting your attention span....but, we're so thankful for everyone that surrounds us. All of the love and well wishes that have come our way have made this special time even more special.  So thank you!

Keep checking back, b/c I promise, with the help of Becca Ann's pestering, I will be updating this more often than in the past.

Much much love,
Kim
