11 Things

Becca tagged me in her post a while back, and being the procrastinator that I am, it has taken me about 2 months to complete and post this. Better late than never right?

11 Things:
1. If you had a month off of work - what would you do with that time?--> I would most def. spend a week with my family in Trinidad and then spend the other three weeks wandering through Europe. Ireland, France, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy would be on my agenda. I would most def. end the trip in Italy…I left my heart there last summer, so I have to go back at some point and find it!

2. What's a life goal of yours that most people may not know? --> I wish I had some amazing, life changing goal, but I don’t, I just take it day by day and promise myself to be better than I was yesterday.

3. What's your biggest guilty pleasure? --> Shipley’s Donuts….hot glazed donuts…nuff said

4. What's your favorite quote? --> This is really hard, there are so many great ones out there….but the one I say all the time is “Think like a lady, act like a boss.”

5. If you got Gilligan's Island-ed (layman's terms: stranded on a deserted island), how long do you think you could survive? --> Um…hello, I’m from an island…just give me a machete so that I can cut open a coconut and I think I could manage for a few weeks.  Hopefully I would have some company and wouldn’t be stuck there by myself…

6. Biggest celeb crush - past or present (earmuffs, sig others!) and WHY? -->
Matthew McConaughey-he’s a Texas boy, has a cute southern accent ,and never wears a shirt…probably the three most important factors that influenced my choice of husband ;)

7. What's next on your travel to-do list? --> Somewhere beachy…and soon.

8. What's your most embarrassing moment? --> Ha! I have to pick just one? I’ll go with the most recent…there’s a guy that works in our building…he informed me that I should be careful in our glass elevators, b/c it’s very easy to see up my dress…yes….I was mortified.

9. What was your favorite childhood TV show? --> Are you afraid of the Darkwhat’s funny is that I can’t handle scary movies or shows now…coincidence?

10. If you could only eat at one restaurant the rest of your life- which would you choose?  -->
Lupe’s...hands down

11. If you had to partner with one Jersey Shore cast member to go on Jeopardy- who would you choose? --> Vinny, he’s the only one that I think I could actually have a conversation with.

I can't believe this is still here....

I bet you did a double take huh? "Did Kim really post something on her blog?"

I know, I'm a major failure when it comes to dedicating time to this blog. It's not that I don't want to, I promise I have the best intentions... but after spending the day in front of a computer the last thing I want to do in the evenings is bust out my laptop and type away.

Besides, when I come home, I want to hang out with these two :)  I can't say no to those cute faces.

In case you can't see it in the picture above, Daisy is wearing a "Big Sister" bandana. That's right folks, Baby P will debut October 2012! I can't begin to tell you all how exciting this is! JP and I are going to be parents! What makes it more exciting is sharing the news with our family and friends. After sharing the news with the folks, we started calling other close family.
I had to call my family in Trinidad (since we couldn't exactly tell them face to face) and their colorful comments and screams on the phone were beyond amazing. In fact, I'm tearing up right now just remembering the calls :)  My grandma literally screamed into the receiver and was so excited, while I had an uncle tell JP "job well done boy." I love them all so much and I wish we were all closer...but thank goodness for phonecards, Facebook and text messaging.

We also had our sweet Aunt Joni, Uncle Scooter, Jordan and Bri literally jump out of their chairs in happiness...Jordan (who's nickname is Big Beck) hugged me so tight, I thought I would deliver the baby right then ;) Bri's scream was so sweet and I'm so lucky that in addition to marrying the guy of my dreams I get to call the Becker's my family :)

We also had so many great reactions from our friends. From funny e-mails to wonderful dinners, it's so difficult not to get overwhelmed by all of the great people that we have been blessed with in our lives.

One of my personal favorite reveals was the following conversation that happened at brunch while talking about beverages:
K: I think I'll have some juice
D: Are you not drinking mimosas b/c you're pregnant?
K: *pause*.....um, yes
D: OH MY GOODNESS!
Que the screams from the girls :)

I love that my refusal of alcohol can only mean one thing...lol...gotta love girlfriends!

There are so many other priceless reactions from our friends that I can't possibly write about them all without exhausting your attention span....but, we're so thankful for everyone that surrounds us. All of the love and well wishes that have come our way have made this special time even more special.  So thank you!

Keep checking back, b/c I promise, with the help of Becca Ann's pestering, I will be updating this more often than in the past.

Much much love,
Kim

Catch up!

So another month has come and gone...It feels like I blinked and August was over, but regardless, hello September!

So a few things:
I've decided to go back to school and do another Masters in HR. Thankfully I got accepted into a really neat program and I'm liking the classes so far. In addition to that I'm also teaching again, which I'm super excited about. I'm teaching three different classes at three different locations, so it's going to be an adventure for sure! I always think it's funny when the students walk in and do a double take...I want to say "I know I look young, but I promise, I'm perfectly qualified and capable of teaching you accounting :)"

Ok...so picture time!

I got to spend an awesome 4day weekend in Trinidad with my family. While I was down there, my cousin got a new puppy! So cute!
I finally made my way to Just Mac! Yummy Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese!

JP took me to see Patrick Stump (formerly of Fall out Boy). He's one of my favorites and we had such a fun time!

We said goodbye to JP's sweet grandmother 1914-2011 (yes, she was 97 yrs old) We'll miss her so much!

I'm not too good at this blog thing

So...I have been awful in keeping up with this...

I have to admit, I do read everyone else's blog in the mornings, and make mental notes to come on here, but it never seems to pan out....

But until I can make a proper entry, here are some tidbits from July...

Harry Potter! So sad the movies are over :(

I love summer, b/c the fruits are sooo fresh and sweet :)

My new favorite tea....I swear I can drink this all day

Sweet notes that the hubs leaves in my lunch bag...

I wish I had some pictures from July 4th, but sadly, I didn't take any. (Mental note#2: take more pics.)

Aside from that, July was pretty great. I feel like this year is just flying by! JP and I are already planning stuff for his birthday and the holidays, which may seem far away, but are really coming fast!

Here's hoping that August will calm down a bit!

A Girl and Her Dog

So here's a little post dedicated to the sweet dog in my life...

Meet Daisy

Daisy is my first real pet. After a few months of married life, I some how convinced JP that this 95 pound smiling mass of fur was what we needed in our lives. She is a complete handful and requires lots of walks, games of fetch, rawhides, milkbones and lots of tummy rubs.
She also doesn't think she's a dog and will often try to jump in the bed with us, or eat off of the table like us....these are two big no no's in our house, but she doesn't seem to realize it.

Asleep on the couch, when she's not supposed to be. (That's me in the corner of the pic, working on school stuff..she kept me company, so I let it slide this one time).

You would think that being high maintenance would cause us annoyance, but not really...We tend to think that high maintenance means high quality.

Note the last one in which she's running off to scare off a bird that mistakenly landed in our yard. (She has JP's attention span.)

Despite being a handful, she's such a great companion and somehow knows when I don't feel well.
Case in point: Last night I wasn't feeling too hot and decided to cuddle up on the couch. JP had to go somewhere and told her her to "take care" of me while he was gone. I guess in her world "take care" translates to snuggle. She immediately JUMPED directly on me. lol yes, I did say jump....

95lbs of love.

She makes me smile :)

Whooosh

Is it me or is this year just flying by? When you're young time takes forever to pass, but as you get older, it just whooosshhes on by!

We're already halfway through June, which brings Father's Day! I have a super sweet dad who has always been amazing and super supportive.

My awesome dad! He's honestly so much more than a great dad, he's a great friend too.

Other June events:

I started a new job last week and so far it's going great! The people are nice and the job is a nice change from auditing. Furthermore, I get to work with my great friend Laura again!
Kim and Laura :) Reunited!

I'm really excited to start something new and have a more relaxed work schedule. No more weekends and late nights! Along with the new job, I'm also teaching another class this summer. I've officially been teaching a year now and it has been great! I have a great class and a wonderful department chair. I'm really looking forward to this semester :)

Fun Vacations with the Family

So my first trip over to Europe was a blast! JP and I served as chaperones to my mom and dad for a week long adventure aboard the Norwegian Epic. (They need supervision at all times....trust me on this).

We stayed in Barcelona for a day before our cruise took off and we really enjoyed the city. We toured around and saw the Segrada Familia, enjoyed the beautiful weather and had a really nice night out on the beach. In between touring the city, my mom and I managed to get yummy massages at the Bliss spa in our hotel... to help us get over the jet lag of course!
Segrada Familia
Mom and I pondering over it's bigness..... our signature pose

JP and I on our way back to the hotel after dinner on the beach

After leaving Barcelona, we got to visit Florence, Rome, Naples (where we went to Capri) and Palma Majorca. We really had a blast and got to do so many neat things! We visited a vineyard, saw so many beautiful cathedrals, saw the Statue of David, eat the best gelato in all of Tuscany, went to the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, The Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish steps, Blue Grotto, castles, villas and more...oh my! So many things in such a wonderful week!
Needless to say, we had a great time...now it's back to the real world :) After coming back from such a fun vacation, the summer semester is about to start up and I get to start a new job soon too. It was a really great way to start the summer...now ahead to all the great things to come!

 We saw Blue Man Group!
 Gelato break!
Boats going into the Blue Grotto-Capri
JP taking his shirt off in the ice bar!
 Family fun!
 Mom and Dad in Florence
JP and I in Palma
Proof that they need supervision ;)
